Homestead Finishing Products
Homestead Finishing Products and Jeff Jewitt welcome you to our website. Here you'll find information about our products, Jeff's books and videos, as well as his current seminar schedule.
Homestead Finishing Products was started in the early 1990's as a ready source of traditional, hard-to-find finishing supplies. Our mission was back then, as it is now, to offer the best products at a fair price and backed by the finest technical service. All of our products are the ones we use in the day-to-day operations of J. B. Jewitt Co., Inc.
We know the products we sell because we use them everyday. In our first catalog we offered several grades of shellac, some French Polishing materials, and a few repair supplies. Still not satisfied with some of the products we were offering, we decided to develop our own. We now manufacture our own line of dyes (TransFast® and TransTint®) under the Homestead name which are sold by other retailers all over the world.

In addition to running Homestead Finishing Products and refinishing furniture, Jeff finds time to write, lecture, teach and consult on a variety of topics.
A frequent contributor to Fine Woodworking Magazine, he has also written for Woodshop News, American Woodworker, Popular Woodworking and Professional Refinishing Magazine.
He is the author of 4 books - Hand-Applied Finishes (Taunton 1997) Great Wood Finishes (Taunton 2000) Furniture Repair and Refinishing (Handyman Club of America 2001*) and The Complete Illustrated Guide to Finishing (Taunton 2004).
He has done 2 full-length feature videos - Coloring Wood (Taunton 1997) and Applying Top Coats (Taunton 1997). Shorter length videos excerpted from these were released as Brushing Varnishes, (Taunton 2000) and French Polishing (Taunton 2000).
* Available only through club membership
Jeff teaches and speaks all over the country for various clubs, guilds and woodworking stores. Check our Current Schedule of Events. If you are interested in Jeff speaking or demonstrating at your club or organization please e-mail us.
This is a great site to find any finishes known to mankind and the information on how to use them. All the proper tools for application are also listed and for sale.
