Presenting Dirk Falther -
Turned Christmas Trees
Dirk is the BWWT treasurer and enjoys turning Pepper Mills, Trees, and Ornaments. I learned to turn in Junior High Shop class, set it aside for a few years (quite a few) and restarted turning when I joined BWWT in 2011. I started turning trees as gifts a few years back and realized they make great gifts and few extras helped pay for more tools. Trees are not only fun to turn, they also are a great skill building session as you are practicing the same set of cuts multiple time and only a few tools are needed to make the cuts. The feature of the trees I turn is they are slightly undercut below the lower “branches" which adds a lot of depth to the tree itself because of the shadow lines.
