Making Holiday Ornaments
I am a high school science teacher at Green Local Schools. If I am not fishing, I can usually be found in the garage making things.
I have been woodworking as a hobbyist for about 10 years. I made many pieces of furniture in our house. I had shied away from getting a lathe because I heard the old adage that once you get a lathe, you are no longer a woodworker, you are a wood turner. Well… I don't consider myself much of a woodworker anymore. I truly enjoy turning things round. For many years I have given handmade Christmas ornaments as gifts to the family. A different kind every year. When I got a small midi lathe, I knew that I wanted to make something unique. Last year I turned over 70 hollow Christmas ornaments. They were all given to friends and family. I am close to 100 for this year. I look forward to sharing my journey of these ornaments with fellow club members. |
