Hoby Horn
Hollowing Using a Camera
Hoby is a senior member of our club at age 91. But more important than his age is his love of woodturning. Hoby began turning 25 years ago with the goal of turning the legs and stretchers for some Windsor chairs he wanted to build. He bought an old Delta lathe and was looking for some support - that's when he heard about a woodturning club in the area. As Hoby says - the rest is history. He finished the Windsor chair and MANY more projects since then. Hoby is a true artist who uses woodturning to display his incredible talent. He has a huge body of work from platters to bowls to vases and many "unusual" pieces that display his versatility, creativity, and skill. Over the years Hoby has become a leader in our club and has been selfless with his time opening his shop to help mentor many turners and providing more demonstrations than we can count.
This month Hoby will be presenting a hollowing technique using a camera to gauge wall thickness and tool positioning. It should be a very interesting demonstration. Come enjoy Hoby's talent and sense of humor. You'll enjoy it and learn a lot!
Here are a few example of Hoby's talent
